Here's just a small sampling of projects that will be hosted within individually themed tree houses in the Village.

FOLK

Birmingham Folk History Tree House will be a space in which visitors can come and share oral histories (their Birmingham stories and folk tales passed down through their families). The layout will be a small, padded studio space to record and save folk tales. The rest of the space will be a listening circle for the most interesting tales to be on audio display for visitors to hear and discuss.

LITERARY

Treehouse will house books and books and more books. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, popcorn and the most comfortable chairs imaginable. No cell phones allowed! Literary Treehouse is for reading and enjoying the written word. The literary treehouse will house a year-long cohort of (10) Eastlake teens who twice a month for writing workshop.

FARMING

Eastlake Elders & Kids Farm Treehouse houses a small teaching farm which invites a cohort of (10) children and (10) Elders every year meeting weekly throughout the growing months. The purpose is for our Elders, some former sharecroppers and direct descendants of former sharecroppers, to share their brilliance with the next generation. I also plan to house an oral history from those Elders there.
